Signs

Fire Extinguishers are accompanied by an Identification Sign (ID Sign) & a Location Sign.

These round signs (see above) are called Id signs and although not required are important because they identify to users what type of extinguisher is sitting underneath & what it can and can’t be used on. There is no specific minimum or maximum height for Id signs. They should simply be placed directly above the portable fire extinguisher. Location signs are placed a lot higher (minimum 2m from the ground) so extinguishers & other fire fighting equipment can be located from several meters away.

As per AS2444, for non-domestic locations the location of portable fire extinguishers must be accompanied by a location sign.
